Plasmakinetic (PK) Resection of Prostate |
Plasmakinetic resection (PK) of the prostate is one of the latest innovations developed to treat prostate problem, specifically when an enlarged prostate BPH causes problem with urination. The plasmakinetic system allows the vaporization or resection of enlarged prostate tissue by the creation of an ionized plasma corona, using an axipolar electrode and electro-conductive solutions. Active and return electrodes of the loop are bent in the same axis. This bipolar system enables the use of normal saline as irrigation instead of hyponatremic glycine or mannitol solutions, thus, avoids the risk of TUR syndrome. The procedure is done under regional or general anesthesia. The patient stays 2 days in the hospital after surgery. They can resume normal non-strenuous activities on discharge. UroSurgery Mt.
